Toshiba’s Latest Photocouplers are Optimised for Mid-Speed Communications with Data Rates of 20kbps ~ 100kbps
Toshiba Electronics Europe has announced two new photocouplers that are optimised for RS-232 and RS232-C communications. The TLP2301 and TLP2303 address emerging requirements for devices that fill the 'price/performance gap' between general-purpose transistor couplers and IC couplers operating from 1Mbps. Target applications will include factory automation and other industrial systems, appliances, smart metering and building automation.
Silicon Labs today introduced the industry's first digital CMOS-based drop-in replacement solution for optocoupler-isolated gate drivers (opto-drivers). Supporting up to 5 kV isolation ratings and up to 10 kV surge protection, the new Si826x isolated gate drivers provide an ideal configuration, package and footprint fit for a wide range of opto-drivers used in high-power motor control, industrial drives, solar power and EV/HEV inverters, and switched mode and uninterruptible power supplies.
Fairchild Semiconductor’s High-Speed Logic Gate Optocoupler Meets Higher Isolation Requirements in a New Wide Body 5-Pin SOP
Designers working with industrial applications need to transmit high speed data reliably in environments where noise – in the form of voltage transients and ground loop currents – is common. They also need to meet stringent new safety standards, such as IEC-62109, the international standard for solar inverters. At the same time, designers need solutions that are flexible, and that take up less board space while reducing bill of material costs.
An innovative technique for driving LEDs could expand their appeal and energy-saving potential, as Electronic Specifier's own Sally Ward-Foxton discovered when exploring the latest dimming solutions in greater detail for ES Design magazine.
Vishay Intertechnology Introduces New High-Speed 850 nm and 940 nm IR Emitters and Package-Matched High-Speed Silicon PIN Photodiode for Infrared Touch Panels
Vishay Intertechnology Inc today broadens its optoelectronics portfolio with the introduction of two new high-speed 850 nm and 940 nm infrared emitters and a package-matched high-speed silicon PIN photodiode with high radiant sensitivity from 780 nm to 1050 nm. The VSMG10850, VSMB10940 and VEMD10940F offer an ultra-wide ± 75° angle of half intensity in a compact side-view surface-mount package measuring 3 mm by 2 mm and a height of only 1 mm.
The release of CST's white paper, 'Nanophotonics and Integrated Optics – Photonic Crystal Cavities' offers engineers details of which type of photonic crystal cavities are best suited to certain applications and outlines their general properties. Hands-on examples and application descriptions, such as the WDM channel filter, are illustrated in order to demonstrate how specific antenna design projects can be carried out using CST MICROWAVE STUDIO.
Fairchild Semiconductor’s Power Supply WebDesigner Now Provides CCM, Non-Isolated PFC Buck and Buck LED Driver Designs in Under a Minute
Fairchild Semiconductor has enhanced Power Supply WebDesigner – an online design and simulation tool that provides complete designs in under a minute – to include complete continuous conduction mode (CCM), non-isolated active PFC buck and buck LED driver designs.
Power Integrations today announced that the latest version of its popular power supply design software, PI Expert Suite 9.0, now includes support for its LinkSwitch-PL and LinkSwitch-PH LED-driver ICs and its recently introduced TinySwitch-4 off-line switcher IC family. Version 9.0 includes an enhanced schematics-manipulation tool. It also enables designers to upload the resulting BOM from the auto-generated schematic layout to selected, leading design-fulfillment distributors.
Bringing a product to market is a time-consuming process. Up until now many display projects have used 'dumb' chips which require extensive software development time and engineering cost.
Microchip’s Graphics Display Designer X Supports PIC MCU-based GUI Creation on Windows, Linux or Mac Computers
Microchip Technology Inc today announced the release of Graphics Display Designer X (GDD X), Microchip's enhanced visual design tool that provides a quick and easy way of creating Graphical User Interface (GUI) screens for applications using Microchip's 16-or 32-bit PIC MCUs. With GDD X, developers have the freedom to work in the environment of their choice, including Windows, Linux or Mac OS operating systems.
